This is a Dell Dimension 4100...well, most of one, anyway. Last night I got a new toy to play with and what little interest I had in making a custom Windows 98 system dissolved away.

You may recall that I bought this Dimension 4100 for its case for my ongoing sleeper build. That’s still going on. I kinda figured I’d make two projects out of it, but nah..

I’m getting ready to donate this thing, but before I do that, I want to offer Oppo this system!

What it comes with:

CPU: NaN (Accepts Pentium III)

RAM: 512 MB

Disc Drive

AGP Card

Sound Card

PSU (No Power Cable)

Motherboard

Heatsink

CPU Fan (With Ducting)

Cabling for HDD and Disc Drive

It’ll just need a CPU, hard drive, and power cable.

It’s yours only for the cost of shipping!

Here’s the new toy: A $30 Prime Systems build from eBay. The motherboard in this bad boy takes any LGA775 CPU. Xeon here we come!

Thanks for thinking of us! I’m hoping my 6 year old MacBook Pro 15 makes it till the fall when financial aid could help me buy a new one. Sometimes the WiFi goes in and out and the battery life barely makes it through back to back classes. I’m thinking about leaving Apple with the new pro line being so expensive and unrepairable/unupgradable. Plus the whole port and keyboard thing. I’m hoping they put a fixed version of the keyboard in this year. I like the OS a lot and my pro has been perfectly reliable up until the recent WiFi issues so that does make me want another one. Also the touchbar seems like a total gimmick to me.

Prime systems! Thank you! I’e been trying to remember what those were. I bought a couple of them last year.

The one you are looking to rehome looms like a fun project. I’d take it on, but my office is already way too full of PCs in various states of completion.

Initial testing shows this thing has a lot of potential! I already have it running with its current hardware.

And I totally get you on the office thing. My workshop (a loft) is filled with computers and computer parts. lol
